What is Discover UC San Diego?

Discover UC San Diego gives high school students the opportunity to take online college courses free-of-charge, giving all students equitable access to experience college-level classes, regardless of what opportunities are provided through their high school or other local programs.

Through direct access to college courses, students will be able to jump-start their progress toward earning a college degree by completing up to three courses, the credits for which will be transferable to any university accepting UC San Diego course credits.

This digital learning program helps reduce inequities experienced by some students, many times students from higher poverty rate neighborhoods, who attend high schools that do not offer Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Discover UC San Diego also demonstrates to students, particularly students who would be the first in their family to attend college, or those from backgrounds typically underrepresented at colleges and universities, that they do belong in the university environment and that they can be successful at UC San Diego.

Not only will this introduction to UC San Diego and college courses provide access to students interested in attending college or experiencing a university course, but it will also give them additional information that may help them choose a major when applying to college and will also help them earn a degree faster by giving them actual course credits.

Discover UC San Diego demonstrates the university's commitment to serving the San Diego community and all residents of California by reducing inequities and providing access to high-quality higher educational opportunities.
