Are Discover courses accredited by WASC?

Yes. UC San Diego is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC). WSCUC accredits UC San Diego Division of Extended Studies through the university. All courses and certificate programs offered by UC San Diego Division of Extended Studies have been developed. They are administered in accordance with Division of Extended Studies policy, the regulations of the Academic Senate of the University of California and WSCUC standards.

What are the requirements for Discover UC San Diego?

The current Discover UC San Diego pilot program has been designed with high school students in mind. Current high school students entering 9th through 12th grade from one of our partnerships (See Get Involved for a current listing of participating partners) qualify for this program.

Graduating seniors (completed by spring semester/quarter) do not qualify for the program.

In the future, community colleges and other learners in California will be able to participate.

How do we register?

If your child is a high school student interested in enrolling in UC San Diego Discover courses please, contact your school counselor or contact us at discover4hs@ucsd.edu

If my child is on a waitlist for course, does that mean they are enrolled into the course?

Being on the waitlist does not mean they are enrolled into the course. Waitlisted students will only be contacted, in the order on the list, if space becomes in the course. If they are contacted and do not enroll by the deadline, the the space will be offered to the next person on the list.

For Services for Students with Disabilities, how does my child request accommodations?

Discover UC San Diego and the Division of Extended Studies strives to provide equal access and an exceptional learning environment for all students. In accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, we provide support services and reasonable accommodations based on your disability-related needs.

We handle all correspondence and documentation in confidence.

To ensure our instructors can support students with accommodations, we'll need documentation to be sent to UC San Diego. To begin the process,  your child will need complete the Discover UC San Diego Accommodation Request Form

 

What other courses and programs are offered through UC San Diego?

Take advantage of opportunities for educational, career, and personal growth. Open to teachers, parents, pre-college students, 50+, and visitors. Explore everything to learn with UC San Diego's Education and Community Outreach Department. Also, UC San Diego Summer Session offers degree and non-degree courses and programs from more than 50 academic departments for current and visiting students worldwide.
